About the location

Église Saint-Montain
Rue de l'Église - 02800 La Fère
  • Aisne
  • Hauts-de-France
This church bears the name of the holy premises(place), which would have lived in a cave on his(her, its) current location. Montanus (Montain) was a blind hermit, coming down(falling) from an alaman king who fled having been persecuted for his evangelization. He(It) found refuge in Fère. The first Romance church was copiously changed in the Renaissance, thanks to Marie de Luxembourg, benefactor of the city.
