Written and graphic heritage: a sustainable heritage
In 1861, Paul Arthur d'Emonville decided to build a mansion on an old plot of the priory of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul, acquired by his family during the French Revolution. Today, the municipal archives and the historical library occupy the site, located within a park labeled «remarkable garden» in 2013, whose layout has changed little since the 19th century.
Discover the rich holdings of the municipal archives and the Abbeville Heritage Library, composed of thousands of books, iconographic documents and sometimes objects, not to mention the city’s old archives. The team will explain to you the methods of preservation, safeguarding and valorization of these treasures of the written and graphic heritage.
