The North of France was early industrialized. A source of pride in regional history and memory, this reality has nevertheless had its downside: the multiplication of sources of pollution.
Far from being a secondary and negligible consequence of the race to prosperity, pollution is from the first industrialization considered as a «modern demon»: certainly, there is work and the North radiates, but at what price do the chimneys smoke?
