Exhibition: The Bestiary, between science and beliefs.

Continuous on Saturdays and Sundays at the opening hours of the BAPSO The Bestiary is a literary genre born in the 12th century, from the fusion between a treatise of Christian interpretation of nature and the first western encyclopedia. It is a hybrid work, steeped in spirituality but based on a desire for scientific truth that will gradually take on an increasingly encyclopaedic dimension. Because in the Renaissance zoology treatises, knowledge and beliefs still intermingle in the scientific literature. This exhibition proposes you to try to better understand the motivations, the cultural foundations of the medieval Bestiary.
Without reservation, all public (game booklet available for a better discovery of the exhibition for the youngest). 40 rue Gambetta, Saint-Omer Free. Information and registration (if necessary) at 03.74.18.21.00. or at www.bibliotheque-agglo-stomer.fr
