Exhibition of photos on the stalls
The stalls (seats of the religious churches cathedrals, abbeys, collegiates) are richly sculpted in the Middle Ages: the exhibition will show the variety and richness of this decoration.
17 and 18 September 2022Passed
In the Middle Ages, the stalls (wooden seats reserved for canons or monks of cathedral, collegiate or abbey churches) were often richly carved. The decor can be religious or secular. The exhibition presents the many subjects represented by the craftsmen, serious or amusing, taken from Holy History or everyday life, from literature or from the imagination, sometimes unbridled, of the sculptors. Explanations accompany the photos from different regions of France, and allow to better understand the art of stalls of the late Middle Ages.
