Located on the ground floor of the Municipal Administrative Center, 20 quay of the Gendarmerie (former factory Lu, opposite the City of Lace), the premises of the Archives of the City of Calais will be open on Saturday 17 September from 2 pm to 5.30 pm and on Sunday 18 September from 9.30 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Within the framework of the national theme of sustainable heritage, the Archives service offers various free activities:

• “Discover the binding” led by the “Relimage” workshop: Come and make your own personalized notebook with the help of a graduate bookbinder, which will also show you all the techniques related to this specialty (binding, sewing, gilding) Session schedules: - For the little ones: from 6 to 10 years old - Saturday 17/09 to 14:00 - Sunday 18/09 to 09:30 and 14:00 - All public (adults, teenagers, parents/children) - Saturday 17/09 to 15:45 - Sunday 18/09 to 10:45 and 15:30

• “Sustainable archives” led by archivists: Cleaning, dusting, repackaging: take part in conservation operations that allow paper documents to survive the passing time and discover how this heritage, often fragile, is valued thanks to new technologies such as digitization. Free activity, all public, no reservation required
• «The second life of archives», animated by archivists: Thanks to the cutting of a patchwork of old papers destined to be destroyed, come and reconstruct silhouettes of monuments known to the city. Free activity, all public, no reservation required
• «Preventive preservation of archives»: guided tour of the archives conservation stores on Saturday 17/09 and Sunday 18/09 at 14:30 On reservation only by phone on 03 21 46 62 69, groups will be limited to 10 people per session.
  On the occasion of your visit, you will also be able to help archivists to identify photos that remain mysterious or to face you on one of the board games carried out by the Archives and City of Art and History.
