The Carpentier quarry is a prehistoric landmark. It is today the only site accessible to the public to admire a section of the alluvial deposits of the Somme dating from the Pleistocene (Quaternary). This cup is also a real page in the history of the Earth and the first men. In the 19th century, Jacques Boucher-de-Reperthes carried out excavations and discovered bifaces among the bones of prehistoric animals. These discoveries have made it possible to attest to the age of Man (at least 600,000 years before our era!).
