For years, local, national and international artists have been creating outdoor works in Maripa-Soula. Sometimes inspired by vernacular arts such as Tembe or Maluwana, sometimes influenced by graphic arts from elsewhere: from France, Europe, the United States.
This year we propose to take a walk through the graphic creations associated with Street Art present in the municipality of Maripa-Soula.
You will discover the Maluwana, the Tembe, or the caligraphy created by renowned artists such as Carlos Adaoude, Minestelli Ananuman or Zepha. David Crochet and Mirta Tani will guide you through the intricacies of these creations.
You have two choices:
- A walk with a team member either in the morning (10am) or in the afternoon (5pm).
Get a phone, a hat and a drink and go!
Upon registration at mirta.tani@chercheursdautres.com or by phone on 0694972122
OR - An interactive and playful walk in autonomy with your mobile phone or one of our tablets (you will be asked for an ID). All day Saturday and Friday from 10am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 5pm
Through the explorama application we invite you to glean some ideas about what is this noble street art, also these noble arts practiced by the inhabitants of the Maroni that sometimes explode in the open at the detour of a street.
To participate, you must bring a phone from the Android or IOS operating system, headphones, an Internet connection, the Explorama application. It is also accessible without internet connection by going to the local, you will install it on your device or you will be lent a tablet in exchange for an ID.
In addition to the graphic discovery, we will give you elements of knowledge about these rich cultures that inhabit Guyana and that remain unknown to this day.
This project is funded by the Office du Tourisme de l'Ouest Guyanais as part of Street Art Green Kultu.
Researchers of Others is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Overseas, the Directorate of Youth Culture and Sports of Guyana, the Territorial Collectivity of Guyana.
