About the location

Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR)
1 rue de l'Académie, 67000 Strasbourg
  • Bas-Rhin
  • Grand Est
The historic building(ship) of the High School of arts of the Rhine, in former days College of decorative arts of Strasbourg, was established in 1892\. Marked by big(great) picture windows, it is conceived(designed) to receive the maximum of light. The polychrome friezes which adorn the facade mark well the membership of the School in Jugendstyl who governed its birth. Decorations of the school were realised by the first pupils according to the draughts of their professors. The facade decorated with ceramics of Léon Elchinger (1892), registered in conformance with(for) historic monuments since 1981, was restored in 2016, with the support of DRAC.
