The exhibition traces the history of nature’s place in the field of art and design.

From the beginning of the 20th century, nature influenced design in the representation of artistic forms: it is biomorphism.
The exhibition traces the history of nature’s place in the field of art and design, through key works from the Centre Pompidou’s collection, which are anchored both in modernity (in Europe, Japan and the United States) and in contemporary prospective design.
Today, artists are no longer content to imitate nature, they integrate the living in their conceptions. It is a profound change in the concept of nature that is being questioned.

The Centre Pomidou-Metz is designed as a unique experience, a space for discovering artistic creation in all its forms, a place of life where events take place all year round. It is an exceptional place, thanks to the architecture of Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines; generous, because the public are at the heart of the project; of excellence, through multidisciplinary programming based on innovative and international temporary exhibitions designed and realized in Metz.
