Hotel Klinglin is a Strasbourg mansion built by the royal lender François-Joseph Klinglin between 1731 and 1736. Attributed to the architect of the city, Jean-Pierre Pflug, of origin and training Franconian, his plan between courtyard and garden and its elevations reflect a mix of French design, local and Germanic traditions. Its main facade overlooks the moat ditch. After its fire during the War of 1870 which destroyed the entire building with the exception of its facades, the hotel was rebuilt substantially identical by the German imperial authorities. It became in 1873, after its restoration, the residence of the Statthalter of Alsace-Lorraine and is today the residence of the prefect of the Grand-Est region, prefect of the zone of Defense and Security East, prefect of Bas-Rhin. Rhine. The interior of the hotel is neo-rococo style. It includes on the ground floor various offices and lounges and on the 1st floor, dining rooms, lounges and rooms with outbuildings.

The hotel has been classified as a Historical Monument since 1921.
