These botanical gardens are an inheritance of scientific and naturalistic activity Messina. Based(Established) in 1802 on the hill Sainte-Croix, it gathered(collected) in the course of times(periods), diverse scientific personalities fascinated by botany as Jean-Christophe Couthier, Gabriel Simon, Mr Belhomme. He(It) is transferred in Montigny-les-Metz in 1865 further to the acquisition by the City of Metz of the domain Frescatelly. The scientific activity of the garden knows a period of austerity under the German occupation but Museum of Paris helps it to reconstruct certain plant collections. From 1960s, the City centres its politics(policy) of gardens on walks and fleurissement. The botanical gardens lose then his(her, its) scientific vocation. The big(great) conservatory stays a witness(baton) of messin influence(radiation). Built in 1861 for the world fair of the city, it was entirely disassembled(entirely taken down) then rebuilt in Montigny in 1890\. His(Her,Its) Lorraine steel dome was built by Mr Panz.
