The historic circus of Châlons-en-Champagne, built at the end of the 19th century by architect Louis Gillet, has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1984\. Since 1985, it has hosted the Centre national des arts du cirque (CNAC), a higher education and research institution under the Ministry of Culture and Communication.
