Boulevard de Trèves
Boulevard de Trèves, 57070 Metz
At the foot of the hill of Bellecroix, the boulevard of Trier is rich with a defensive and military past. The barracks built under Fort Bellecroix after the war of 1870 have been restored and rehabilitated since 2007 to preserve the memory and history of Metz. This boulevard forms one of the entrances to Metz and is frequented by more than 25,000 vehicles every day. On both sides of the road, the former military barracks rehabilitated, participate in the reconstruction of the city on itself. The eastern part (top), leaning against the fortifications below the fort of Bellecroix, consists of the long ensemble of the Steinmetz barracks. To the west, between the boulevard and the railway tracks, a series of low-rise buildings grouped the grain stores into a functional unit dedicated to the stewardship of the garrison’s 25,000 men.
