Église Saint-Loup
85 rue des Martyrs-de-la-Résistance, 51000 Châlons-en-Champagne
The construction of the present church began with the choir at the beginning of the 14th century. During the Revolution, the church of Saint-Loup escaped destruction and was transformed into a military stable, to be returned to worship in 1795\. It remains very damaged and the abbot Chapiteau undertakes its restoration at the end of the nineteenth century. It removes everything that the eighteenth century had done, to restore the monument its Gothic appearance. The old gate was dismantled and the new façade, designed by architect Ernest Collin, was built between 1886 and 1889.
