Caroline invites you to an unusual visit of her disappeared gardens.

Caroline-Henriette de Deux-Ponts-Birkenfeld, dit la Grande Landgravine, married to Louis IX of Hesse-Darmstadt, made Bouxwiller her home, to which she was strongly attached.
Follow this modern and witty woman whom King Frederick II of Prussia, known for his ferocious misogyny, honoured his memory with the plaque «woman by her sex, man by his spirit».
Show by and with Marie Hattermann and Thibault Vançon.

The square was built in the 19th century on the site of the former castle of the counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg and its moat. It is confined by the former outbuildings and administrative buildings (chapel, grain hall, chancery) and by the school, more recent (1884). Some urban spaces, others planted with trees occupy the intervals. One of them, present hospital park, is a fragment of the former castle park.
