All that remains of this castle today is the entrance door, a round tower, the former residence of the bailiff and a few sections of walls of enclosures.

In the Middle Ages, the town of Wasselonne was defended by a castle erected on the height that dominated the city. Of this castle, there remains today only the entrance door, a round tower, the former residence of the bailiff and some sections of wall of enclosures. The castle entrance castle, rebuilt in 1496, crossed the walls and consisted of two bastions enclosing a passage surmounted by the high tower. This would be, without being able to affirm it, the steeple of the old fortified church of a cemetery. Its 14th century construction is, in any case, prior to the fortification of the gate.
The entrance door of the castle, flanked by two round turrets, was raised by a square tower in 1789\. This development was intended to replace the watchtower (former church bell tower) in the center of the castle destroyed in 1674\. The lower part consisted of housing for the guard and cells for prisoners.
