Église protestante Saint-Martin
Place de l'église, 67140 Barr
Originally, this church was probably founded by Merovingians. The building became Protestant in 1540 and remained Protestant until 1685 when, on the king’s orders, Catholicism was reintroduced. Thus, from 1685 to 1826, the two communities, Catholic and Protestant, shared the place not without some friction. It is the regime of simultanéum. In 1826, a new church was set up for Catholics.
In 1850, the nave of the Protestant church was demolished and rebuilt in 1852 in its present form. The old bell tower was preserved. Presentation leaflets are available on site.
