Collégiale Saint-Ermel

This collegiate was based(established) in 752 by lady Ada, under the protection of Pepin the Short. She(It) possesses: a series of funeral paving stones, a decoration(set) and a furniture representative of Italian revival, of marvellous polychrome wooden statues of the XVIth century and retable in the XVIIth century which adorn the building. History(Story) wants that Pepin the Short is buried under the primitive(initial) church. The pre-Romance crypt is a splendid example of Carolingian architecture. Collegiate Saint-Ermel is listed(classified) in conformance with(for) historic monuments since 1963\.

Access
The site is opened all year long, on request to the tourist office of Vireux-Wallerand - place(square) of the castle. To note: Opening tourist office: From April till September: every day from 10 h till 12 h and from 13 h till 18 h. From October till March: from Monday to Friday from 10 h till 12 h and from 13 h till 17 h, Saturday from 13 h till 17 h, closed on Sundays.
