The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Sion is a place of devotion to the Virgin of the Duchy of Lorraine where the dukes came on pilgrimage. The choir was built around 1308 and the apse in the 15th century. The nave was enlarged in 1741 and the tower was completed around 1870 by architects François Lamorre and Léon Vautrin. In 1871, the monumental statue of the Virgin was set up in the workshops of Vaucouleurs.
