Come and discover the great novelty: the sound installation - the musical chairs - by Pierre Berthet.

A specific and adapted course of about 2h duration is proposed to you throughout the weekend. It is available as follows:

  • Discovery of the Wendel Miners Museum with a marked and open access circuit that allows to discover the history of coal in Lorraine, the daily life of miners, the social policies of mining companies as well as the trades of the day and the background. You will also follow the route of the miner in various emblematic rooms such as the hanging room, the shower room or the lamp room.
  • Free tour of the Wendel Mine, where you will cross the rock and coal drivages and the flat roadway. The monumental machines and the equipment in position will promote this total immersion in the atmosphere of work of black faces.
Musical Chairs – Pierre Berthet Sound InstallationIn partnership with Vu D'un Œuf/ Festival Densités - Centre Artistique Rural, Meuse, we welcome this year the musical chairs - sound installation by Pierre Berthet.
Tin cans, whistles, locomotive suspension springs, porcelain bowls, compressor attachment bells, ping pong balls, dried agave sheets... For this installation Pierre Berthet continues his sonic exploration of objects. The chair represents the central element of the installation: each chair triggers a sound event when you sit on it. Percussion, blowing, rocking, tremors and agitations make sound and resonate. Pierre Berthet proposes this installation in the heart of the Museum and will make us appreciate the space differently.
The exhibition «The equipment of the Lorraine coal miner: 170 years of evolution (1830-2004)» The exhibition traces 170 years of evolution both in terms of protection, lighting, detection of firedamp or coal mining.
On-site dining at the Kaffeeklatsch The Kaffeeklatsch welcomes you in its vintage and warm atmosphere. Delicious home-made seasonal pies will delight your taste buds at any time of the day.
