Hydropower is a kinetic energy that comes from the movement of water in all its forms: rivers, waterfalls, marine currents, tides, etc. Learn more about it!

For a long time, water mills have been turning this force into mechanical energy, thanks to the paddle or light wheel, just like at the Hallière sawmill. By the end of the 19th century, technological advances would allow the production of electricity in hydroelectric plants equipped with turbines.
On the rivers of the Vosges, small private power plants produce local, renewable and rather non-polluting energy. The occasion to make a presentation during an exhibition taken by the Friends of the Hallière.
