The portraits presented feature high-Rhino figures represented by high-Rhino artists.
Portraits have been made since ancient times. Initially reserved for royal and religious effigies, the portrait spread to the bourgeois class that wanted social recognition from the Renaissance onwards.
The 18th century was a turning point for portraiture, but remained a practice reserved for the elite until the 19th century.
The appearance of photography then makes it possible to democratize the portrait, to become universal.
