The "Crete" is an ancient abbey founded in 1121, second daughter of the Cistercian abbey of Morimond, granddaughter of Cîteaux. The abbey had to be completely rebuilt at the beginning of the 18th century. It underwent significant architectural changes. After the Revolution, the imposing abbey and the cloister were destroyed: we see only the traces of it in front of the Porterie.
The portery (1715-1730) constitutes the contact with the outside, the place where the daily workers were paid and distributed weekly bread to the poor, it is in itself a characteristic building of the eighteenth century and highlights the charm and serenity of the site, purely Cistercian. Its dimensions and refined architecture give the idea of the importance of the abbey.
The pretty bridge over the Rognon, facing the gate, is from the eighteenth century (the gate and the bridge are classified as Historical Monuments).
Very degraded during the last fifty years, it is the object of preservation work and a stone
