The vineyard, in Frolois, covered an important territory: In 1843, 160 ha of vines recorded, in 1888, it goes up to 190 ha. Phylloxera had dramatic economic and social importance on French and European viticulture. The vineyard of Frolois has not escaped this. The wine-growing activity that has disappeared is still present in the collective memory.
In addition to explaining the destruction of the Lorraine vineyards by phylloxera and its consequences, the conference will aim to highlight the fragility of nature and how the changes of it impact us, yesterday as today.
Conference hosted by André Clément of the Académie Lorraine des Sciences, organized by the Frolois ACREA Heritage Association.
