Église Saint-Didier
Place de l'Église, 08190 Asfeld
Unusual baroque church built in 1685\. Trained(Formed) by a rotunda which evokes the Pantheon of Rome and of a vestibule-porche-clocher. Jean-Jacques de Mesmes, count of Avaux – future Asfeld – made rebuild the church. Realisation is confided(entrusted) to the Dominican brother and architect François Romain. The moose(run-up) for this new Italian art, baroque art, and the will to favour spiritual expression go together in the creation of a plan in the shape of musical instrument: the viol of gambe. The church, every(quite) in curves, counts not less than 138 pillars and columns. It possesses an organ in 7 games(sets) built by 1900 by Clovis Renault. Exceptional building, the church Saint-Didier is listed(classified) in conformance with(for) historic monuments since 1913\.
