About the location

Parvis de la basilique Saint-Urbain
Place Vernier, 10000 Troyes
  • Aube
  • Grand Est
Consecrated as a minor basilica in 1964, Saint-Urbain Basilica is a pure jewel of Gothic art related to the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris and the Saint-Ouen church in Rouen.
Founded by Jacques Pantaléon, born in Troyes in 1185 and elected Pope in 1261 under the name of Urbain IV, it was built on the site of his father’s shop from 1262 to 1286, with the exception of the nave vaults that are erected in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
