The Oya is Turkish lace which means various forms of narrow lace that are worn in some Mediterranean regions and in Armenia. This technique dates back to the 8th century BC.
Today this technique is still very popular among the Turkish elite. Oya craftsmanship is a unique language, each motif having a symbolic meaning that is sometimes unique to the person or locality from which it originates.
