About the location

Parc du Château du Bas

The park of the Château du Bas de Champigneulles is a garden of thirteen hectares called «English» made up of vast enclosed glades, bordered by groves of trees and shrubs of twenty-six species common of Lorraine. The complex is crisscrossed by the Saint-Barthélemy stream that crosses the park and supplies the pond serving as a water reserve to the old wheat mill built around 1350.
For lovers of rare plants, two interesting varieties, Tulipa Sylvestris and Gagea Vilosa, are among the last specimens in Lorraine. The wild tulip and the gagée of the fields, which are protected at the national level, are particularly preserved.
The renewal of the trees is done by natural regeneration and the natural vegetation is used for landscaping purposes such as the bulbous corydal, the garlic mustard, the common sap, the molinia, the geranium robert, the birdwatching in parasol. These plants are "grown" according to their vegetative cycles.
The fauna is also well represented by many species of birds,
