Built in the Gothic style and inspired by Champagne, the construction of the Collegiate Church began in the 1240s, when the Cathedral of Saint Stephen was already advanced. The bulk of the work will end in the 1510s with a last piece of work that adorns the whole of its portal and its large rose. The facade will remain unfinished because of a difficult situation at the beginning of the sixteenth century: famine then plague. Financed in part by the bourgeois of Toul, the Collegiate Church symbolizes a certain autonomy vis-à-vis the bishop.
