Overlooking the village of Domremy-la-Pucelle, the basilica honours Joan of Arc. In 1881, the first stone of the basilica was laid near the place where Jeanne heard her voices.

We owe the construction of this building to the architect Paul Sédille, while the paintings inside the basilica, representing the life of Joan of Arc, were designed by Lionel Royer.
