Aleria romaine lettuce(steelyard) establishes(constitutes) in the 1st century before our era, following the first colonisation operated by Sylla, from 81 av(avenues). J-C. The ruins of the city were described for the first time, precisely, by Prosper Mérimée in 1840 after its journey of inspection in Corsica of 1839\. From 1955 till 1958, the archaeologists Jean Jehasse and Jean-Paul butcher begin(undertake) the first important excavations(searches) of the site. They bring out(loosen) Forum and part(party) of the Roman town(conglomeration). The main visible(obvious) monuments today articulate(are expressed) around a forum lined with two covered porticoes(gantries) which protected the facades of shops and of houses.
