About the location

Église Saint-Martin
Place de l'Église 28800 Trizay-lès-Bonneval
  • Eure-et-Loir
  • Centre-Val de Loire
The church is a building in reduced dimensions(size) extended by a quarter by a hall in pisé with half-timbering and here with a role of "Caquetoire". The hall shelters a Romanic portal(gate) of the end of the XIIth century. A simple nave with a bedhead rounded off to which a small sacristy on the left was added. The nave contains a vault in skeleton in the shape of hull knocked down(spilt) with entraits and bradawls. The chorus(choir) is entirely covered with woodworks, redone in 1788\. A retable young of wood contains a niche between two columns with the statue of Saint Martin above the main altar. It is topped with a niche with a Madonna and Child. A polychrome statue representing saint Martin on his(her) horse. Three-coloured(French) polychromy(process printing): red coat, blue tunic and white horse. A painting(paint) of the XVIIIth century which initially was under the hall was restored and has recently just taken his/her/its seat back(just resumed his/her/its role) in the church. Title of work "Ananie laying on hands in Saint-Paul" according to the French painter Jean Restout (1692-1768). Very beautiful copy of 1719 executed by the very painter. The sacristy also contains the upper part(party) of an old(former) piece of furniture and a beautiful cupboard Louis XV. Other furniture a beautiful lectern of the XVIIIth century with an eagle in the unfolded wings. The bell tower which was already modest at origin was redone and still decreased between 1920 and 1930\. It shelters an unique(only) bell, not electrified, driven by a rope fixed to an united arm of the wooden sheep(mutton). The arrow of the church bell tower much higher than the current, is strongly tilted eastward.
