Ancienne église Saint-Fiacre

An autonomous parish until 1822, Mervilliers had a place of worship under the name of Saint Fiacre. Decommissioned and converted into a barn, with a dispersion of the main structure, with the exception of some elements of re-employment, the church has largely disappeared, but its surviving remains were classified as historical monuments in 1915\. This protection is explained by the survival of an exceptional bas-relief forming the tympanum of one of the doors of the old building. Sculpted in the 12th century, with a diameter of 173 cm and a maximum height of 90 cm, it represents a donation scene. In the upper register, Christ flanked by two angels gives his blessing to the event which mobilizes two groups of characters in the lower register and where stand out the donor (a knight) and the donee (Saint George of Lydda).
