About the location

Église Saint-Martin-et-Saint-Phalier

At the junction of several Roman roads, the locality takes its name from the Alaine people, who came from the Caucasus to the Great Invasions, in 440\. Located in the grounds of the cemetery, the church of Saint-Martin-et-Saint-Phalier proceeds from a reconstruction between 1660 and 1674, after the destruction of the church of the village in 1562, during the Wars of Religion. The bell tower of the present church was rebuilt in 1763\. The five bays of the collateral open onto the main vessel through a stone arcade of Prasville resting on octagonal fitted pillars. The south facade has small high windows, while the large third-point bays of the east and north facades have been closed.
