Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste
Le Bourg, 18240 Sury-près-Léré
The church Saint-Jean-Baptiste is established(constituted) of a nave of three spans with a shoulder in the South and a chapel in the North, of a chorus(choir) of the same length and of a baside in three pieces. Placed under the auspices of the chapter of Saint Martin de Tours, the building is rebuilt at the end of the XVth century or at the beginning of the XVIth century. Only the western pine nut(cog) seems to be the vestige of a previous(former) elevation. The high quality of work is maybe attributable in the auspices of the abbey of Saint Martin de Tours. The quality of the fenestration is also remarkable. The church presents a harmony of volumes, a technique of construction and an exceptional beauty of the decoration(set) for a small rural church.
