Chapelle de la Trinité
Rue Sœur-Saint-Henri 28310 Janville-en-Beauce
Eure-et-Loir
Centre-Val de Loire
The chapel of the Trinity was built at the beginning of the XIIIth century to be the one of the Hôtel-Dieu, held by canons. At the end of the XVIIth century, Louis XIV deleted(eliminated) in 1695 the useless become maladreries. Two sisters of a new congregation, based(established) by Marie Poussepin came to Janville to treat the sick and to teach. In this chapel saint Antoine was particularly invoked to recover from a terrible disease caused(provoked) by the spur of rye, called the «fire(light) of Saint-Antoine». After Revolution, the abbot Granger, priest of the parish, began(undertook) steps(initiatives) so that the congregation could re-form. It was made on November 21st, 1803\. This chapel is then the one of the Headquarters of the Sisters of Charity of Janville for a few years. In 1870 the upper sister Saint Henry of the Hôtel-Dieu obtains from the Prussian general Von Colomb to leave numerous French and German wounded persons from Loigny. They were also well-manicured in the chapel. In 1873, thanks to grateful gifts(donations) of the French families and of the emperor of Germany for given cares, the superior makes restore the chapel. On August 12th, 1875, the bishop of Chartres, Mgr Regnault dedicates the chapel magnificently restored in the presence of M the Mayor, Justin Clichy. From 1880, date of the transfer of the sick in the old(former) castle, the chapel served much less. It was the place of departure of processions of August 15th, of solemn communion, of party(holiday) of the Saint-childhood and the believers(regular customers) met there to pray and to sing Marie, in May. Currently, the sisters come from five continents are happy to recharge batteries in these places. This chapel, given up(sold) by the Sisters, became property of the municipality.
