Domaine de George-Sand, 36400 Nohant-Vic
Built at the end of the XVIIIth century for the governor of Vierzon, the house of Nohant is acquired in 1793 by madam Dupin de Francueil, grandmother of George Sand, who surrounds it with a large park. It's in this context that take place childhood and adolescence of the girl Aurora Dupin. Place of creation and of intellectual life; inseparable place of his work, George Sand writes there and receives number of famous hosts there: Balzac, Chopin, Flaubert, internal Delacroix L' of the house kept(preserved) the decoration(set) which the writer knows until he{she} dies: dining room, blue room(chamber), small theatre and puppet theatre. Beyond the house, the garden of George Sand has received the label of " remarkable garden ". He(It) calls back(reminds) the strong link which joined the author with nature and with botany: «I had the house of my memories(souvenirs) to shelter the future memories of my children there.» History(Story) of my life (1847-1854) artistic creation continues today to live in the house. A bookshop proposes the papers of George Sand as well as works on its life and its work. In attic, the literary attic receives regularly The Meetings of Nohant (workshops(studios), readings, meetings with authors) In the sheep barn done up in concert hall take place every year the festival of «romantic parties(holidays)» and «Chopin festival». The domain of George Sand is open to the public by the Centre of the national monuments.
