Built in 1606 by Maximilian de Béthune, duke de Sully, Lord de la Chapelle d' Angillon, this church was renovated in 1999\. Its stone masonry of flint is covered with an ochre coating; his(her,its) foothills are in Pierre blacks of Vailly, except for one of them, more recent, who(which) is built in limestone. The pine nut(cog), in facade, is surmounted(overcome) since September 20th, 1909, by a stone statue of saint Jacques weighing 2500 kg and high of 2 m. She(It) is due to the Abbot Blanchet, priest of the parish in time(period). Limestone ornament located above the entry porch was damaged during revolution. The square tower, lacking in arrow shelters bells at a level to that of the summit of the pine nut(cog). Oral tradition brings back(reports) that the duke de Sully, Protestant, would have so decided on it not to hear(understand) the bells of this catholic church to ring since his castle. The stained-glass window of the Crucifixion (XVIth century) is previous(former) to the construction of the current church, the origin of this Christ is unknown. He(It) belonged is possible be in the primitive(initial) church of the chapel of Angillon, destroyed by the Protestants in 1569\. Harmed by the bombardment of June 18th, 1940, it was listed(classified) and restored by historic monuments. The Christ is represented in cross with, in his feet and in his left, Marie, his mother, and to the right, saint Jean. Three angels collect the blood in a chalice, a dove surmounts(overcomes) the summit of the cross. The sun, the moon, clouds, polychrome supplement the set(group). Registration(Inscription) " INRI " located at the top of the cross is brought(moved) forward with regard to(compared with) the axis of the latter(this last).
