Église Saint-Martial
Le Bourg, 18250 Montigny
On the side of hills on the foothills of the Pays Fort, in Montigny, and located in its heart, the church Saint-Martial dominates the wooded plain whose edges lead us to the first foothills of the Morvan, and offers a wide view of the Champagne Berrichonne. It is of architectural interest because of the rarity of the vault of its apse influenced by the Angevin model and also by the presence of a bell tower erected at the end of the Middle Ages. After its recent restoration, the wooden statue of Saint Denis has regained its place in the church. Night lighting at nightfall. The parish is mentioned in 1273, and was under the patronage of the chapter of Sancergues. Devoid of transept, the church has a single-vessel nave whose panelling was replaced by a brick vault in modern times. Separated from the nave by a triumphal arch, the two choir bays are covered in a broken cradle. The apse is built in hemicycle. The stone kiln-end, highlighted by decorative cords, is compartmentalized by pointe
