Free visit of the Resistance Museum in Argoat
Visit the Resistance Museum in Argoat.
The Museum of the Resistance in Argoat is part of a place carrying memory. It is in the heart of the nearby Coatmallouen forest that, at the beginning of July 1944, the maquis of Plésidy in Saint-Connan was set up. Armed with several hundred men, he fought against the occupying troops during the fighting on 27 July 1944 and then participated in the liberation of Guingamp and its region.
The history of the Second World War and the Resistance in the west of the Côtes d'Armor is told through five exhibition spaces and a projection room. The occupation, the resistance, the maquis and their allies, the maquis of Plésidy in Saint-Connan, the liberation are all themes addressed within a playful and lively tour, leaving a large place to the audiovisual.
A bookshop-shop dedicated to the Second World War allows history lovers to find the products that interest them.
The entire museum is translated into English.
Labeled tourism and handicap, it is accessible to all.
The museum is part of the pole of the Étang-Neuf, an associative cultural structure built on stilts in the heart of Brittany in a privileged and preserved natural space.
