Nestled in its little green corner, overlooking the city, this pretty chapel rises on a very old site, as evidenced by a monolithic granite Romanesque cross erected nearby. The oldest archives attest to a Gallo-Roman presence and, perhaps, a fanum (temple). The site is Christianized by the construction of this chapel dedicated to Saint Roch, invoked to stop the plague. An epidemic ravaged the region in 1597. Its current modest architecture dates from the 18th century.

The chapel dedicated to Saint Roch now occupies a promontory overlooking the former Notre-Dame abbey and the medieval village of Daoulas. Built around the middle of the eighteenth century, its origins are still very obscure (lack of archives) but given the local toponymy it was most probably built on an ancient place, perhaps a fanum (temple) Gallo-Roman, later Christianized as shown by the presence of a Romanesque cross in granite.
