Built around 1720 for the seneschal of Rennes, then seat of the intendance of Brittany from 1770 to the Revolution, the hotel of Ruberso becomes, from the beginning of the Empire, the residence of the Prefect. The building, which preserves until the middle of the nineteenth century its square plan and a sober physiognomy, is completely metamorphosed around 1875, date at which important works give it the appearance of an official building.
