Painted panelling The Notre-Dame-du-Tertre chapel owes its name to the Red Chapel, the dominant colour of the ceiling of the choir and the Ste-Marguerite chapel made up of painted panels. Jean Geslin of Burgundy wrote in 1849 that it was "one of the greatest pages left by the 15th century not only to Brittany, but to the whole of France". Since the faithful could hardly read, the priest used these drawings to illustrate his words and to tell the story of biblical salvation.
