Château de Suscinio

Residence of hunting of the dukes of Brittany, Suscino was built close to the ocean. A first mention(distinction) of a manor of hunting appears in 1218: the castle is located in edge of a large forest (two deers in bas-relief are sculpted above the entrance(entry)). During the second half of the 14th century, the manor is transformed into fortress with drawbridge framed(supervised) by two tours(towers,ballots), lookout posts with murderesses, ramparts provided with machicolations, staves(moats), etc. In the 16th century, the castle is confiscated by the king of France. After Revolution, it is exploited(run) in career(quarry) and in ruin. In 1965, he(it) becomes property of the department which leads important campaigns of restorations(caterings) there. During excavations(searches) in 1975 were brought to light of the fragments of a paving of the 14th century, established(constituted) by painted earthenware tiles. Castle classified as "Historic Monument" in 1840
