Moulin du Prat
22690 La Vicomté-sur-Rance
The Prat mill is an old tidal mill, built in the 15th century and ruined at the end of the 20th century. Many tidal mills were active in Rance. They used the force of the tide to turn their wheels: a reservoir near the mill was filled at the rising tide, then poured into the Rance at the ebb tide. By combining with the force of the ebb current, the water made it possible to set the wheel, connected to the grinding wheels, in motion.
The Moulin du Prat is unique in Rance today, thanks to the renovation it enjoyed in the 2000s, through the action of passionate volunteers.
