Museum space "Les Bains de la Reine"
Clean in the Middle Ages? All in the bath! Even today, the Middle Ages has a bad reputation regarding hygiene and body care, we are talking about a filthy society with questionable hygiene! The reality is quite different! Since antiquity, we know the «baths», the «ovens» and the latrines. «Les Bains de la Reine» in Guémené-sur-Scorff, medieval oven built around 1380 by Jean I de Rohan presents all the characteristics of the sauna and hammam. This private setting, placed within a scenography dedicated to hygiene and cosmetics in the Middle Ages, will reconcile you with these preconceived ideas.
The plus: the walking circuit to discover the restored remains of the castle and a film on the hygiene of the cities, domestic and body care in the Middle Ages (duration: 15 min)
