The speaker, Hervé Bedri, is from Amiens in Picardy.
His graduate studies took place at the University of Western Brittany, in Quimper and then in Brest. After a DEUG in history-geography, he turned to ethnology and defended his doctoral thesis in 2006. He obtained the mention "Most Honorable" for his work on an original theme, that of the study of the public and private gardens of Brest since the seventeenth century.
He mixes history and ethnology to draw up an inventory of the green heritage of a city whose ancient military vocation has conditioned urban and economic development.
Hervé Bedri has been in charge of the historical heritage of the national navy within the Brest Admiralty since 2002.
