de Beauregard

The castle of Crenan au Foeil (near Quintin) will open its doors on the occasion of the European Heritage Days in the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday.
The current construction remained in the same family from the origins (1400) until 1835, being successively transmitted by women over the centuries. The families Le Nepvou, Urvoy, Perrien, and then Bellingant followed.
In the seventeenth century, Pierre de Perrien, Marquis de Crenan and court officer of Louis XIV, had an architectural complex and a remarkable park.
In recent years, the current owners (Beauregard family) have begun work of reconstruction or consolidation; most recently, the tower and the facade have been restored.

About the location

Château de Crenan
Crenan, 22800, Le Foeil
  • Côtes-d'Armor
  • Bretagne
Before the fire of 1927, this castle presented an example of Breton civil architecture and consisted of two parts(parties) of characteristic style, dated by coat of arms, representative of the Breton architecture of the end of the 15th century and of the beginning of the 17th century. Medieval part(party) can be dated between 1473 and 1500\. The primitive(initial) aspect had to include the turret of staircase into the angle of two buildings(ships), among which the one would have been destroyed during the reconstruction of the 17th century. This part(party) presents a front-door in brace, of two-light frames, small windows adorned with lions in their rampant. The tower of staircase is flanked(thrown), in its upper part(party), of a turret. The tower presents a decoration(set) of Breton machicolations, in retreats(withdrawals) decorated with moldings ending in console. The construction which flanks(throws) her was built by 1600\. The chapel was built in the 18th century.
