Owned by the Department, the museum is housed in the former Bishop’s Palace of Quimper, built between the 16th and 19th centuries. It includes, according to a square plan, two wings framing the magnificent staircase tower, with rich Renaissance decoration, raised in 1507 by Bishop Claude de Rohan. Between it and the cathedral, the wing along the Rue du Roi Gradlon (1647), is pierced by a porch through which is made the entry into the courtyard of the museum. The wing bordering the Odet, erected in the eighteenth century (1776) was redesigned in 1860\. Cloister in neo-Gothic taste. Neo-Gothic cloister (circa 1850).
